My Stardoll Evolution

We have all come a long way since we first started off on Stardoll. Each story is unique but I think we can all agree that we have learned a lot and grown for the better. I thought I would share with you guys my own story of Stardoll evolution.

Oh my dear dollies. We all had to start somewhere. This is the beginning, and in the beginning my fashion style was... non existent. I originally joined stardoll under the username TekkenTag but being the busy 15 year old that I was it was deleted due to inactivity. I joined again a short time later under the account name Nikita&Alexand had a side account called KawaiiAsuka. Again these accounts were deleted due to inactivity.
Unfortunately (or rather fortunately) I don't have pictures of the dolls from my first accounts, but on the left you can see the way my doll looked the first week of creating this account and I can assure you that my previous account wasn't any better. I started off as non-ss and mostly relied on freebies. At the time there was no such thing as Stardollars or Starcoins it was all one currency and Royalty status was just becoming a thing.

The Next few years were interesting enough. I watched stardoll grow and improve. Mortal Kiss, Harrods and  many other great stores came and went. The Beauty Parlor was updated allowing you to more accurately edit your skin tone.  When I finally purchased my first membership Stardoll had just celebrated there 111million members mark. It was also a great year for freebies.

As my style began to improve Stardoll continued to offer new outlets for creativity. Wig design was introduced which introduced a new era for stardoll. If you could design wigs you were "in". Then came the lip designers and the contour and eye designers. As you can see I got a little too happy when Inked came out.

Soon came my years as a royalty. I didn't do the year as a Superstar thing, I just purchased a package Stardoll was offering for a full year membership and instant Royalty. I began to make a decent profit in the Bazaar with my Interior designs and even won National Covergirl and Hottest Design Interior awards a few times.

The last few years have been so much fun you guys! I now have two side accounts and I have learned so much about fashion and design. I get so excited when I see decor items from real life on Stardoll. I like to think I have finally found my style. It's still pretty eclectic but it's mine and has been influenced by many things in my life. What about you guys? Have any photos from your early years?

Thoughts About Callie's Picks

So, it's no secret there are a lot of mixed feelings when it comes to Callie's Picks. Those who have been on stardoll for years, collecting and saving rare fashions feel as though the value of their items are decreasing. And in a way they are right. Those who are new to stardoll or where never able to purchase stardollars are happy for the second chance to buy items without paying the ridiculous price of 600sd in the Bazaar when they are lucky enough to even find them. We can safely say there are definitely some pro's and cons.

The Bad News.
Yes. Callie's picks does decrease the value of "real-brand" items, and this store isn't exactly known for saving you money. It's still mostly, if not all, Stardollar items and they are usually around their original price. People who are newer to Stardoll, and non SS members are more like to buy from this store, meaning you can forget about trying to sell them the original for it's up-valued price.

The Good News.
Yes there is good news! So sit down. A lot of fashion items go "missing", when accounts are deleted or when Items are sold to non SS who can't sell them back. Callie's Picks gives those items a way to be reborn. If you are like me and can't always afford the older items you want in the starbazaar, then this is a like a second chance window opportunity. Even Though the item doesn't have it's original name brand tag it looks the same, fits the same, and does the same thing. (if it looks like a duck...)

If you think about it, it doesn't really effect us too much. Before Callie's Picks there was Archive. In real life there are plenty of stores that provide cheaper more inexpensive versions of our favorite high end fashion items. We can't all afford to dress like Kardashian's but we like to look like them.

As far as Callie's Picks Decor... let's just say I was the most excited about this! I love being able to buy the items I never thought to buy before. I just wish these were updated more often (I believe the Christmas themed one is still up and it's February). I also hope to see more LE decor items. Fingers crossed.

This For That

It's not easy being a non-Superstar these days. Watching all the new stores and collections come out but not being able to afford the stardollar items. And there are less and less starcoin and free items coming out each month. I remember the hard days of being a non-Superstar, before I got my first job and could afford my own membership because my parents refused. Well my lovely non-ss dollies! Keep your chins up! I have decided to do a series of This For That posts in which I will show you a cute Starcoin outfit and then an equally cute substitute outfit for Stardollars. Hopefully this will give you guys some fresh new outfit ideas and keep you inspired.

Hackers Beware

Let's get one thing straight. Hacking is a problem for all web sites. Stardoll included. This past summer many of us witnessed Stardoll's most major hack (info here) and their amazing and quick recovery. But hacking comes in many forms and hackers continue to daily attack our favorite site.

I am not writing this post to open old wounds, quite the contrary. It is very important we as Stardoll members know how to keep our accounts safe and secure. Knowing how to spot a hacker, stop them, and prevent hacking from happening can help keep your personal account and all of stardoll safe.

Spotting a hacker is fairly easy. Any message you may receive from any member saying that you have won free stardollars, or telling you to try a site that gives out free stardollars is a hacker. They want to lead you to a site (sometimes a site that looks just like stardoll) where you enter your account and personal information so that they may steal it and use it. Never give out your personal information to ANYONE! Even if you think they are a friend and are just offering a free makeover. Not only does it jeopardize your account it is against Stardoll rules and can result in account termination.

Make sure to report a hack or hacker as soon as you can. Hackers aren't always out for your personal account but to hack the site. Here is an example of a hacker and what signs to look for.

Relentless never ending broadcasting. This is a tricky one because members do often broadcast repeatedly, but as you can see this broadcast has been going on for some time, Several hours actually. And the message doesn't really benefit the user.

When you visit the user you can see obvious anomalies. Like their doll or suite are modified in a way that is impossible. In this case the doll in the above photo is missing her facial features. And even though her presentation states that she isn't a hacker, she clearly is.

Another sigh would be rediculously priced items in their starbazaar. Sometimes over priced and sometimes underpriced for 1 or 0 stardollars. Do not support hackers by buy hair designs or bazaar items for 0 or 1sd. Report it immediately. This hacker could be targeting buyers,

Basically if someone is breaking the rules report it! Keep Stardoll safe for all of us. We love the freedom of creativity and the openness stardoll provides us with. Let's make sure no one is taking advantage and ruining ours and others fun. Take the Stardoll Safety Quiz and keep up to date on Stardoll's One Stop Rules. Make a pledge to Keep Stardoll Safe and be a Stardoll Hero.

Modern Chic Interior Tips

Modern chic interior is probably my favorite style of interior decorating. It's clean, fresh, feminine and makes a statement. It's also super easy to infuse your personality into and make it uniquely your own.

I've added several plants to freshen up the space and distribute more color. Just like in real life plants are an affordable and easy way to add life, and warmth to a space. Adding more feminine flowers like roses, peony's, and orchids will give your space that extra pop of chic.

You don't need matching furniture to make a space feel unified and well put together. Adding furniture with a pop of color or a unique shape can actually make the space feel more welcoming and relaxing.

I love all the panel moulding options there are in the starbazaar! Panel moulding is an easy way to make almost any interior wall look more elegant. Don't be afraid to place art and fixtures over top.
